Purpose and scope of the role:
Tetra Tech is seeking a senior programme professional to lead wastewater monitoring and sampling services for UK water utilities. Based primarily in Brentford, you will manage multi-site programmes and frameworks across the east of England, with potential delivery further afield. You will oversee projects from inception to handover, working closely with clients, regional field crews and office-based specialists.
Your responsibilities will include programme planning, resource allocation, quality and safety assurance, stakeholder engagement, data analysis and continuous improvement. You will lead delivery across multiple contracts, ensuring programmes meet agreed scope, timescales, budgets and quality standards. This permanent role offers a salary from £41,000 plus car allowance and an immediate start.
Your impact in this position:
In the short term, you will stabilise and optimise delivery across existing frameworks, improving coordination between field and office teams. Over the medium term, you will build operational capability, embed continuous improvement and strengthen commercial performance. In the longer term, you can progress into regional or national programme leadership, contribute to contract strategy and mentor future leaders.
You will work on significant water-industry programmes that support environmental protection, reduce pollution risk and help safeguard communities.
Core Capabilities:
Strategic delivery and planning
- Proven experience managing full project or programme lifecycles across multiple sites, delivering safely and effectively to time, cost and quality requirements.
Operational leadership and people management
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed teams working in operational environments.
Health, safety and risk management
- Demonstrable experience managing high-risk field activities, including confined spaces and highways work, while promoting strong safety standards and wellbeing.
Client engagement and communication
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely and build effective client relationships.
Technical and analytical proficiency
- Understanding of drainage and sewer networks, confident use of data analysis tools, MS Office and work-management systems.
Skills, qualifications and experience:
Experience in the water or utilities sector, IOSH Managing Safely and a full UK driving licence are expected. A recognised project management qualification, such as PRINCE2 or APM, a relevant degree, utility services experience and a commitment to continuing professional development are desirable.
Work patterns and locations:
This is a full-time, Monday-to-Friday role, working 40 hours per week. The primary base is Brentford, with regular field visits and occasional travel to Clevedon and other locations. Hybrid working may be available where compatible with operational requirements, although office attendance several days per week should be expected.
