Planning Officer - Maldon District Concil

£35. per hor (mbrella)

Location: Maldon

Essex Conty Concil (ECC) are delighted to be spporting Maldon District Concil to recrit a Planning Officer on a three-month temporary basis. Please note that this role reqires days a week site attendance.

Role Prpose:

To provide a range of timely and effective gidance, ensring compliance, good practice, risk management and enabling the Concil to deliver for its cstomers.
  • To spport the planning team in delivering high-qality planning services that balance commnity, environmental, and reglatory considerations.
  • The assessment and processing of planning applications, ensring compliance with legislation, local policies, and national planning gidance.
  • The preparation of reports, recommendations, and planning advice for internal and external stakeholders, inclding Members, developers, and the pblic.
  • To spport the development and delivery of planning strategies, policies, and projects that enable sstainable growth and positive commnity otcomes.
  • To maintain accrate records and databases, ensring information is p-to-date, accessible, and compliant with data protection reqirements.

  • Key Accontabilities:
  • The assessment and processing of planning applications, ensring adherence to relevant legislation, policies, and gidance.
  • Prepare reports, recommendations, and spporting docmentation for internal and external stakeholders, inclding Members, developers, and the pblic.
  • Spport the implementation and development of local planning policies, strategies, and projects to deliver sstainable development otcomes.
  • Maintain accrate records and planning databases, ensring information is p-to-date, accessible, and compliant with data protection reqirements.
  • Contribte to consltations with internal teams, external agencies, and commnity stakeholders, providing advice and gidance as reqired.
  • Identify opportnities for process improvements, spporting initiatives to enhance efficiency, cstomer service, and compliance within the planning service.
  • Develop professional knowledge and expertise in planning practice, legislation, and policy, applying learning to spport effective decision-making.
  • Provide professional spport to more senior planners and contribte to collaborative team projects, inclding research, data analysis, and policy development

  • The Experience Yo Will Bring:
  • An ndergradate degree in Planning, rban Planning, Geography, Environmental Management, or a related discipline, or eqivalent professional experience.
  • Eligibility to work towards Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institte (MRTPI) or eqivalent professional body.
  • nderstanding of the planning system, relevant legislation, and national and local planning policies.
  • Awareness of sstainable development principles and their application in a local athority context.
  • Knowledge of cstomer service standards and approaches in a pblic sector environment.
  • nderstanding of data protection and information management principles.
  • Awareness of planning procedres, inclding consltations, enforcement, and commnity engagement.
  • Familiarity with digital systems, GIS, and other IT tools sed in planning service delivery is desirable.
