In this role you will manage and progress the investigation of criminal offences and other incidents/enquiries, working as an integral part of a mixed economy team of police officers and staff; complete investigative actions, prepare case papers ensuring file completeness/delivery in accordance with court deadlines, legislation and force policy and maintain victim and witness confidence to facilitate successful outcomes.

A good standard of education with excellent verbal, written English and good numeracy skills is essential. Knowledge of current Thames Valley Police systems would also be highly desirable. An understanding of technology and capturing digital evidence would be highly advantageous. You must also have the willingness to work towards, and ability to achieve Professionalising Investigations Programme (PIP) 1 accreditation.

You will have good communication, listening and questioning skills with the ability to engage with people at all levels sensitively and discreetly, sometimes in potentially confrontational or sensitive situations. You will be expected to be flexible around start and finish times in light of operational demands. You will also need to have meticulous attention to detail and the ability to gather and record information in a logical format along with problem solving and decision-making skills.

Capability to travel across the Force is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly. Due to personal safety for lone working, public transport may not be suitable. For this reason, a full driving licence is considered essential for this role. This is an On Site role.

If you are a TVP employee and have you been in your current post for less than 12 months, you need to seek approval from your line manager to be eligible to apply for this role.
