Lecturer in Public and Environmental Health (Housing) (1 day per week)

University Centre Weston/ Weston College is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Housing Lecturer to join our Higher Education team and help shape the future of housing, environmental health, and public health practice.

This is an exciting opportunity for a housing professional, Environmental Health Practitioner, Housing Standards Officer, Private Sector Housing Officer, Building Control professional, or Local Authority specialist to bring real-world expertise into the classroom and support students in developing the skills required to improve housing standards and protect public health.

You will be working 1 day per week (Tuesday) (7.4 hours).

Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at one of our college campuses in Weston-super-Mare.

About the Role

You will contribute to the delivery of our Housing and Built Environment curriculum, teaching students across our Environmental Health and Public and Environmental Health degree programmes. Topics include:

• Housing and health
• Housing law and regulation
• Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
• Housing inspections and enforcement
• Fire safety legislation and risk assessment
• Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and licensing
• Building construction and housing defects
• Sustainable construction and energy efficiency
• Indoor air quality, damp and mould
• Housing tenure and tenant wellbeing

About You

• Property Inspection
• Housing Associations or Registered Providers
• Built Environment disciplines

You will have substantial industry experience and a passion for developing future professionals. Teaching experience is desirable but not essential, as support can be provided for the right candidate.
