Investigation Support Officers form an essential part of a team responsible for thoroughly investigating crime, supporting victims and bringing offenders to justice. Exciting challenges lie ahead within Policing which will transform the way we investigate crime and protect our communities.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide an effective and efficient support function within a mixed economy team of Police Officers and staff, including administrative tasks, evidence collection and recording tasks on Niche RMS.

The successful candidate will undertake evidence collection to support a mixed team of Police Officers and staff and record witness accounts in the form of a statement. They will undertake tasks as directed by an OIC or supervisor in line with level of training and designation which includes house to house enquiries, the scoping, seizing and viewing of media footage and exhibit handling.

You will attend court to give specific evidence when required, including evidence of exhibits seizure / handling, statement taking and to support the investigation/prosecution team. The successful candidate will have a good standard of education, including English GCSE (grade 9-1, A-C or Key Skills Level 2 or equivalent).

The successful candidate will be required to complete Safety training. A good level of fitness is required to successfully complete this.

Capability to travel across the Force is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly. Due to unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working public transport may not be suitable. For this reason, a full driving licence is considered essential for this role.

Important: All secondments must be supported in writing by your Line Manager and Head of Department/Commander or Deputy. Please attach written approval from your line manager and Head of Department in your application. If the secondment is not supported then the role may be offered on a fixed term contract basis, but this has implications including loss of continuous service protections.

Please note: Shift allowance, on-call or other job-related allowances from the previous role will not be protected unless they are attached to the new role for the duration of the secondment.
