Purpose & Scope of the Role

We are looking for a Graduate Archaeologist to support the delivery of projects across archaeology, built heritage and historic landscapes. You'll contribute to developments ranging from small schemes to major infrastructure projects across the defence, commercial, residential, transport, energy and urban regeneration sectors.

Working with the management team and experienced Archaeological and Heritage Consultants, you'll assist at different project stages, including desk-based research, site walkover surveys and the preparation of initial assessments and reports. This role offers a supported pathway to develop your technical expertise, consultancy skills and career.

You'll help deliver high-quality, evidence-based advice while building effective working relationships with internal teams, clients and external stakeholders. Your contribution will support successful project outcomes and help protect and understand the historic environment.

• Archaeological and heritage knowledge: Apply a sound general understanding of British archaeology across varied projects and historic environment disciplines.
• Research and analysis: Undertake desk-based research, interpret information and contribute to robust assessments and reports.
• Fieldwork and independence: Support site walkover surveys and work confidently, including outdoors and with appropriate supervision.
• Technical communication: Produce clear written work and communicate findings effectively through presentations and professional discussions.
• Teamwork and development: Collaborate with colleagues and clients while developing towards a relevant professional qualification, with mentoring and Chartership support.

Training, qualifications and experience

A minimum 2:1 degree or Master's in a relevant subject is required. You should have a good general knowledge of archaeology be computer literate, with experience of ArcGIS, and demonstrate strong written, communication, presentation, analytical, research and teamwork skills. A full driving licence and suitability for Security Clearance are also required.

Working Environment

Based in London or Bristol, this permanent role combines office-based consultancy with site and outdoor work. Hybrid and flexible working options may be available, with office attendance and working patterns agreed with your team and project requirements.
