Purpose & Scope of the RoleAs an Environmental Consultant, you'll deliver environmental surveys, assessments and technical advice across noise, acoustics, air quality, lighting and odour. Working with multidisciplinary teams, you'll contribute to projects from initial investigations and modelling through to reporting, planning support and mitigation. You'll build trusted client relationships while developing your technical expertise and supporting the growth of our consultancy services.
Your Impact in this positionYou'll combine scientific knowledge, practical fieldwork and consultancy skills to deliver high-quality, commercially sound projects. From preparing technical reports and proposals to managing budgets, deadlines and client expectations, you'll help deliver solutions that meet regulatory requirements and make a tangible difference to the built environment.
Core Capabilities- Technical delivery: Apply your environmental science knowledge to surveys, monitoring, modelling and assessments across NALO disciplines. Experience in at least one service area is valuable, with training available to broaden your skills.
- Project management: Coordinate resources, equipment, costs and invoicing to keep projects on track, within budget and to a consistently high standard.
- Technical communication: Produce clear, evidence-based reports, fee proposals and tenders, translating complex findings into practical client advice.
- Client relationships and business development: Build strong client partnerships, identify opportunities and contribute to winning work and growing the team.
- Collaboration, safety and leadership: Work proactively across Tetra Tech and its sister companies, promote health, safety and security, and support colleagues in delivering shared objectives.
Training, Qualifications & ExperienceYou'll have a strong academic background, ideally in a scientific discipline, and around one to two years' consultancy experience in a relevant environmental field. Field survey experience and knowledge of applicable legislation, policy and guidance are desirable. Membership of a relevant professional body, such as the Institute of Acoustics or Institute of Air Quality Management, is advantageous. A full driving licence and flexibility to travel are required.

Office attendance and hybrid arrangements will depend on the team and role requirements; flexible hours, reduced hours and remote-working options can also be discussed.
