About The Opportunity

Jacobs is committed to playing a leadership role in Global Energy Transition. Our UK and Continental Europe team is growing and we're looking for Protection and Control Engineers at all levels to help position Jacobs for success.

Our Power and Energy team provides a range of services to our transmission and distribution clients. This includes work on transmission system assets, HVDC interconnectors, energy storage systems, inertia systems, wind farms and advanced facilities for mission critical industries in the technology and process sectors.

As part of our diverse team of experienced designers and project managers, you will undertake substation, cable and overhead line P&C design and settings from scheme inception stages through to commissioning. With Safety in Design uppermost in your mind, you will be designing cost-effective protection and control solutions which meet the requirements of our major energy clients .

Your technical expertise will ensure design compliance and governance and you'll be considered a trusted advisor by clients, confidently interfacing with them throughout design phases. As a team player you'll enjoy working collaboratively with other members of the design team and encourage others to think innovatively in the way we deliver solutions to clients.

Work-life balance and flexibility is a key focus area for Jacobs. Our core design team is based across Jacobs' offices in London, Birmingham, Reading, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow or Exeter. However, with offices throughout the UK, we can be flexible about location and are happy to discuss hybrid, part-time and flexible working hours to suit you and our business.

Here's What You'll Need:

• Bachelor's Degree / Masters in Electrical Engineering or HNC/ HND qualifications
• Relevant experience, ideally with a network operator, a T&D consultancy firm or a substation OEM, in the front end / detailed design and settings of protection and control schemes (including equipment sizing and specifications)
• Technical experience of a range of substation and circuit configurations (including EPC projects) at all systems voltages up to 400kV.
• Experience of working in a team of design engineers to deliver solutions to cost, programme and quality, responding quickly and flexibly to changing circumstances.
