FTC/Secondment from 22/02/2027 until 31/01/2028

In this key role, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and deploying resources to meet the operational needs of the organisation. This includes supporting special operations, pre-planned events, and unforeseen incidents, ensuring that Force and LPA/LCU operational resilience is maintained at all times.

You will balance operational requirements against financial considerations and assess the impact of duty changes on individuals. The role also involves recording and managing both long-term and short-notice abstractions, continually reviewing and adjusting duties to meet demand, while ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.

You will have a good standard of education with excellent verbal and written communication skills and a proven ability to negotiate, influence and resolve conflict. An ability to prioritise and work to deadlines is essential as well as an ability to understand complex systems. Proven experience of operating in a role that requires application of logic and an ability to make fast time decisions based on available information is required. You will also have proven ability to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers maintaining contact and communicating their needs clearly.

The hours of work will be within Monday to Friday.

As part of the Thames Valley Police family you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including 24 days annual leave per annum, pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme. For more information on our benefits, please visit the supporting you page, via the link at the bottom of the advert.

If you are a permanent member of staff applying for this role, please note it will be offered on a secondment basis. Important: All secondments must be supported in writing by your Line Manager and Head of Department/Commander or Deputy. Please attach written approval from your line manager and Head of Department in your application. If the secondment is not supported then the role may be offered on a fixed term contract basis, but this has implications including loss of continuous service protections.

Please note: Shift allowance, on-call or other job-related allowances from the previous role will not be protected unless they are attached to the new role for the duration of the secondment.
