Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesThe post holder will be responsible for managing and coordinating the Colposcopy patient pathway, ensuring patients progress through referral, diagnosis, treatment and discharge within national waiting time targets. This includes tracking patients, managing appointments, maintaining failsafe systems, communicating results, responding to patient and GP enquiries, and proactively identifying and resolving pathway delays.
The role also provides administrative support to the Colposcopy Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), including attending meetings, preparing patient lists, ensuring clinical information is available, recording outcomes, and maintaining MDT trackers to support timely clinical decision-making.
In addition, the post holder will be responsible for accurate data collection, analysis and reporting. This includes maintaining local and national databases.
Person specificationEducation and Qualifications Essential criteria - Good general level of education to GSCE or equivalent Maths and English Literature
Desirable criteria - Previous medical secretarial experience
- NVQ III Business & Administration
Experience Essential criteria - Previous Administration experience
- Experience of working with the public and/or professionals
- MS Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook
Desirable criteria - Experience of working in the NHS and understanding of medical terminology
- Experience of using NWAFT IT systems
Knowledge Essential criteria - Knowledge /understanding of the Data Protection Act
- Ability to facilitate change within the work area
Desirable criteria - Understanding and working practice of NHS performance targets including 18-week referral to treatment times
Key skills Essential criteria - Can demonstrate good standards of written and verbal communication
- Ability to adhere to policies and procedures
- Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure to ensure deadlines are achieved
