Applications should be submitted via email rather than via the 'Apply now' button for this vacancy.**Get involved with the Southwold Harbour Management CommitteeWe are looking to appoint an independent member to the Southwold Harbour Management Committee. The Harbour Management Committee is responsible for advising the statutory harbour authority, East Suffolk Council. If appointed, the successful candidate will become Co-opted Members of the Harbour Management Committee and will play an active part in the running of the harbour.
Southwold Harbour forms part of the Southwold Harbour Lands, which also includes the relevant stretch of the River Blyth, Buss Creek, Salt Creek, parts of Southwold Caravan Site and commercial properties leased to independent operators to generate rental income for the harbour.
We are looking for an independently minded person with the appropriate expertise to join the Management Committee. The required key skills and experience include but are not limited to; knowledge and management of ports and / or harbours as well as understanding the importance of the Harbour to Southwold, and the wider area, and knowledge of local stakeholders. Other relevant skills which would be beneficial include management of marine leisure activities, knowledge of environmental matters and shipping. Applicants must have an interest, or experience, in public service and be committed to developing the sound management and interests of the harbour, including its financial viability, the management of its assets and all other aspects of good port governance
.The amount payable as an allowance for co-opted HMC Members is an amount per meeting. The current payment is £164.13 per meeting. Mileage incurred on HMC business, for approved duties such as including driving to meetings is paid at 55p per mile.
