About the role

The National Heart and Lung Institute are delighted to seek applications for a 3-year Clinical Research Fellow post in cardiomyopathy and clinical trials at the Royal Brompton campus. The successful candidate will be strongly encouraged to undertake a post-graduate degree during the post.

The candidate will be supervised by Dr Brian Halliday and Professor Rasha Al-Lamee and coordinate a fully-funded clinical study investigating the natural history of dilated cardiomyopathy.

The candidate will be trained in clinical trials, cardiomyopathy and cardiovascular imaging.

What you would be doing

  • To work with the principal investigators to screen and enrol participants, carry out baseline and follow-up visits, supervise CMR scans and collect and record data in an accurate and systematic way
  • To complete and comply with reporting and progress requirements
  • To work with the principal investigators to complete and update applications and reports to appropriate regulatory and ethical bodies
  • To work with colleagues to complete trial data analysis in a robust and scientific manner
  • To present findings to colleagues at internal and external meetings (travelling within the UK and abroad)
  • To draft publications for submission to peer reviewed journals
  • The post holder will be responsible for accurate record keeping and documentation of results, and for preparing research reports and papers arising from his/her research


What we are looking for

  • An individual with experience in cardiology and clinical research who works well within a team and is able to set and achieve goals in a timely manner. Prior experience in clinical trials with good understanding of research methodology is desirable.
  • Full General Medical Council (GMC) registration (or eligible for full registration)

Further information

This is a full time and fixed term post for 3 years. You will be based at Royal Brompton Campus with travel to other campuses as required.
