Job summary

We are excited to advertise a 12-month fixed-termClinical Pharmacist position working across Exeter and Langdon, Dawlish,localities.

The Clinical Pharmacist will gain experience and provideclinical input to a range of inpatient wards, including:

Adult acute mental health

Psychiatric intensive care

Rehabilitation

Older peoples mental health (including dementia)

Secure services (including low and medium security)

Eating disorders

Perinatal

Under the supervision of a Senior Clinical Pharmacist,the post-holder will be supported to develop their experience and interest inmental health, neurodiversity and learning disability services. The postholderwill have close clinical support via regular managerial and clinicalsupervision with their line manager, access to an array of friendly,experienced and supportive pharmacists and pharmacy technicians across theTrust as well as a variety of networks including a regular pharmacy peer group.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the Rotational Pharmacists, SeniorClinical Pharmacists, Clinical Pharmacy Technicians and Medicines OptimisationTechnicians, the postholder will provide expert clinical pharmacy serviceacross Langdon and Exeter inpatient wards.

The postholder will attend relevant multi-disciplinaryteam meetings such as ward rounds, risk-review meetings and discharge planningmeetings to ensure that clinical experience and expertise is provided topatients with complex medication regimes and critical medications. In atargeted approach, the Clinical Pharmacist will review clinical informationfrom the electronic patient records as well as gathering the views and wishesof the patient, carers and/or relatives to recommend and guide evidence-based andperson-centred treatment plans.

The potholder will also provide line management andsupport the Rotational Pharmacists to develop and progress within their roles.Clinical Pharmacists will also support wider ward-based action plans to addressareas of improvement relating to medicines management.

Qualifications

Essential

• Masters degree in pharmacy or equivalent, plus pre-registration year.
• Current registration and practicing member of General Pharmaceutical Council.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.

Desirable

• Member of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy
• Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy / therapeutics.
• Certificate/Diploma or Masters in Psychiatric Pharmacy practice.

Other including knowledge, communication, analytical and judgmental skills, planning and organisation and physical skills

• Evidence of post registration Pharmacy practice, knowledge and experience to demonstrate the competency in the following areas
• Broad clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge, with an understanding of national policies and issues impacting on prescribing and medicines optimisation services.
• Excellent, communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills for a wide variety of audiences.
• Team working skills.
• Critical appraisal and analytical skills, with an understanding of evidence based medicine.
• The ability to deal with complex situations and bring to a satisfactory resolution.
• The ability to be flexible and adjust to a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to analyse and interpret a wide range of data, including prescribing data.
