About the Opportunity

Our business is responsible for the largest independent nuclear laboratories in the UK, delivering projects from consultancy, assurance and regulation, through to test rigs and prototypes. We are leading the way with our robotics team developing innovative solutions to access some of the most challenging environments for our clients. We work collaboratively with both colleagues and clients using the full breadth of our capability to provide the right answers to complex problems. Our teams work cross-sector; from hydrogen, space, fusion, Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs) and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) through to supporting decommissioning, remediation, existing nuclear, non-nuclear infrastructure, space and defence.

We are seeking to hire a Business Development Manager - TC&I (Nuclear) whose core duties will fall into five broad categories:
  • Market Knowledge - Strategy, Research and Analysis
  • Stakeholder engagement and Relationship Management
  • Opportunity identification and solution development
  • Sales & Marketing Material Development (including proposals)
  • Winning Work and Making Money, including negotiation and pricing support


  • The role will be focused primarily on building and developing strong relationships both internally and externally, to develop a strong pipeline of opportunities, that continue to develop the TC&I business within our key markets of Energy / Defence / Infrastructure / Space. The role provides a great opportunity for ambitious candidates to develop key business, growth, and commercial acumen in a dynamic and agile team.

    Key Responsibilities include:
    • Work collaboratively, in partnership, with other parts of company to support the overall growth plans of the company whilst representing and winning work for TC&I. Participate in business led Sales Meetings with regular client account reviews, client feedback, and recording added value created.
    • Continually assess business opportunities, their scope and TC&I capability alignment to ensure a continuous and healthy pipeline of sales opportunities. Ensuring people involved understand strategic importance and how opportunities link together to grow the business.
    • Sales Lead for all aspects of Business Development and Sales activities for the defined Customers Account portfolio, including growth and development of new Frameworks.
    • Support the development of defined Account Plans, focusing of key tactical relationships, competition and opportunities.
    • Participate in the governance reviews for all relevant opportunities, to ensure that the voice of the customer is evident in final proposal submissions, through the development of Win Plan's, supporting authoring and reviewing submissions.
    • Responsible for the maintenance of data within a dedicated sales CRM System, including development of win plans, regular updates, and customer call reports.
    • Develop speculative value propositions that enhance Jacobs' competitive position with customers.
    • Be the customer advocate and first point of contract for the customer and the TC&I business. Closely coordinates and zippers relationships across market account clients with appropriate Jacobs contacts (act of TC&I Single Point of Contact).

    • Proactive relationship-based sales focus
    • Ability to understand and solve customer issues through technology, consultancy and innovation solutions
    • Ability to influence and drive the relationships forward to successful outcomes
    • The role requires significant collaboration and stakeholder engagement, therefore experience at achieving goals through the work of others
    • Strategic management and growth mindset
    • Previous experience of working within our markets (Energy, National Security, Space), customers and/or Technology, Consulting and Innovation Business advantageous
    • Previous experience of collaborative consultancy, product enabled solutions, and innovative ideas sales.
