The Role

North London Hospice is looking for a Bank Doctor to support the delivery of specialist palliative care services to patients in the NLH Inpatient Unit and in the community.

This is an opportunity to work as part of a compassionate and highly skilled multidisciplinary team, supporting patients within our Inpatient Unit and community services. You will play a key role in delivering holistic, person-centred care, helping to provide the best of life, and the end of life, for everyone.

We are looking for an experienced, adaptable and patient-focused Bank Doctor who is committed to delivering high-quality palliative care and shares our values of compassion, respect and excellence.

Please note our Inpatient Unit is currently based at Jade Ward, Edgware Community Hospital, Burnt Oak Broadway, Edgware, Middlesex, HA8 0AD whilst our Finchley site is being refurbished.

The key responsibilities of the Bank Doctor include:
  • Working with the inpatient unit multidisciplinary team.
  • Undertaking holistic assessments for new admissions and reviews for in patients including initial assessment of diagnosis, symptoms, and their cause.
  • Daily assessment of the degree to which control of pain and other symptoms has been achieved.
  • Working alongside other professionals with families in the prevention of bereavement morbidity.
  • Attending Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.
  • Engaging in clinical governance and quality improvement activities.
  • Contributing to the training, development of the hospice team and undergraduate and postgraduate multi-professional visitors to the organisation.
  • Being adaptable to changes in service need, for example providing cover for absent colleagues during periods of annual leave, professional and sick leave.
  • Participate in appraisal and supervision.
