About the Opportunity

We are looking for talented people to join our Surveying and Reality Capture (Geomatics) team to continue our focus on building relationships and delighting our clients (90% of our business is repeat business). Jacobs has an enviable reputation in the UK consultancy sector as a result of a portfolio of high-profile projects with clients that include National Highways, The Environment Agency and Local Authorities. Our current challenges include a significant portfolio of infrastructure projects for National Highways and the EA with many more opportunities in the pipeline. So, would you like to be a member of our Geomatics team?
We are seeking individuals to support the expansion of our Survey and Reality Capture expertise within the UK Geomatics business. We require Assistant Land Surveyors in London to work with our surveyors in carrying out topographical/Laser Scanning/Deformation Monitoring surveys for various engineering projects in the market sectors of Airports, Highways, Railways, Environmental and Industrial Manufacture and Development. You will be trained in how to use the latest surveying equipment, receive structured on-the-job training and funded studies may be available to help you obtain a recognised qualification.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Use of survey equipment to capture site data (full training to be provided).
  • Liaison with other members of the Geomatics team to enable work to be delivered to time, budget and quality.
  • Communication of project related issues to the relevant Senior Land Surveyor and Geomatics Project Manager.
  • Assistance in the production of survey drawings and reports.
  • Assistance in the production of Method Statements and Risk Assessments.


Here's What You'll Need:

  • A minimum of GCSE grade A-C / 4-9 in Mathematics and English.
  • A desire to develop your career by learning on the job, in a practical, outdoor, team environment.
  • Strong personal management and timekeeping skills.
  • You will be keen to work within a range of environments including the Highways, Rail, Environmental, Energy and Property sectors.
  • You will need to have a full UK driving licence as the role will involve travel to site locations. Flexibility is required and you must be prepared to spend time on site away from the regional office.
  • Willingness to learn use of industry standard survey equipment and processing software.
  • Demonstrate a desire to work in an outdoor, site-based environment.
