As the Apheresis Specialist Nurse, you will be based at Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, within the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre, hosted by the Clinical Research Facility.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join our high performing team. You will work closely with the Apheresis Ward Manager and the CCC Lead Nurse to provide all aspects of clinical care for patients and stem cell donors.

The post holder will work as part of a highly skilled specialist team acting as a source of clinical expertise, providing a nationally renowned bespoke service for healthy donors who are giving their stem cells to recipients both in the UK and globally. The team are lovely to work with and are friendly and supportive to new starters to enable them to develop their skills and knowledge when learning about this unique service.

You will:

Take responsibility for the care of donors/patients requiring specialist apheresis procedures under the guidance of the Apheresis Ward Manager, focused on providing safe, effective care and an excellent experience for Donors.

Be a competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner within the speciality ensuring the provision of excellent, evidence-based nursing care for donors/patients.

Remain current and up to date with clinical protocols and best practice, maintaining specialist knowledge of apheresis, including competence in the care and management of intravenous access, drug administration and apheresis processes.

• First level registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC)
• Degree/Equivalent diploma
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Intravenous medication package completed.
• Cannulation and venepuncture proficiency.
