Training and Qualification

Essential criteria

• First level registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC)
• Degree/Equivalent diploma
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Intravenous medication package completed.
• Cannulation and venepuncture proficiency.
• Completion of an apheresis training programme

Desirable criteria

• Teaching/ Mentorship course.

Experience

Essential criteria

• Post-registration clinical experience in apheresis practices and procedures
• Supervision of registered and non-registered staff and students
• Ability to manage workload efficiently and effectively

Desirable criteria

• Teaching & assessing experience
• Service development/ improvement experience

Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria

• Convey sensitive information in an empathetic manner to patients, relative/carers and staff
• Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
• Produce timely, accurate written/electronic records and documents
• Recognition of own level of competence and limitations able to communicate these to appropriate staff
• Evidence of negotiation and influencing skills
• Able to minimise interpersonal conflict and barriers to communication.
• Demonstrate team working and ability to work within a team.

• Physically able to perform the full range of nursing duties

• Able to undertake manual handling manoeuvres
• Evidence of moving and handling training
• Ability to work a flexible working pattern of long days including weekend working
