The purpose of the Philanthropy and Alumni & Supporter Relations Office (PASR) is to support the University's Strategic Plan by delivering philanthropic income and other forms of financial and non-financial support from alumni, friends, companies, livery companies, trusts and foundations and other grant making bodies and institutions. The Office raises money for University-wide and strategically important initiatives that cover student support, world class research and development of the University's estate. This is achieved by developing and strengthening relationships with strategically important constituents and identifying shared areas of interest and activities to enable a lifelong relationship to develop and flourish. The Office also works closely with Schools and other Professional Services teams to support UK and international student recruitment, careers opportunities and enhances the student experience, all of which support the University's Mission and Vision.

The Alumni & Supporter Relations Officer (Bayes) plays a key role in the planning and delivering of programmes and services for Bayes alumni. This includes UK and international events and volunteer management, providing value to and managing contributions from stakeholders in support of Bayes Business School and City St George's strategic priorities. They will manage a portfolio of alumni volunteers and groups ensuring the successful delivery of the alumni volunteer programme; including recruitment, training and development, engagement, stewardship and retention. The Alumni & Supporter Relations Officer takes a joined-up and strategic approach to planning, delivery and evaluation of events and volunteering programmes to enhance alumni engagement and opportunities for the Bayes and City St George's global alumni community.

The postholder will have proven experience in event, volunteer and stakeholder engagement management. They will have exceptional communications skills, able to confidently engage with a broad range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will have excellent organisation and time management skills, able to work under pressure and to demanding timelines.

Person Specification
  • Proven experience of successfully planning, delivering and monitoring stakeholder engagement events (UK and international; in-person and virtual)
  • Strong experience of client-facing and delivery-focused customer service
  • Experience of volunteer management and managing multi-disciplined relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life
  • Experience of working in the Higher Education, Advancement sector, business school, charity or fundraising sector
  • Proven experience of working with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
  • Proven ability to think strategically and to identify problems and recommend solutions where necessary; ability to think creatively and identify ways of improving effectiveness
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to build effective working relationships and collaborations with a wide range of audiences
  • Proven ability to work closely with colleagues as part of a team
  • Exceptional organisational and planning skills, including financial planning and monitoring skills, the ability to accurately interpret data and the ability to take projects to completion
  • Able to multi-task, perform effectively under pressure to tight timescales and adapt to changing priorities; with excellent personal organisation, time management and prioritisation skills
  • Self-motivation and a delivery-focused and pro-active positive approach, openness to new ideas and creative problem solving
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of a project
