Ability Network at L&Q

Ability was formed in 2021, since then, we have kept busy raising awareness of colleague disability, long-term health conditions, and Neurodiversity at L&Q. We address issues and opportunities pertaining to these characteristics, protected by the Equality Act 2010. We aim to work with the organisation to continuously improve our workplace culture, technologies, and policies, reflecting the realities that some of us live.

Ability has a core committee of 10 colleagues, including our ambassadors, event manager, treasurer, vice chairs, and chair. Each of us contributes to decision making and task ownership, ensuring we are listening to colleagues and learning all the time. Our network consists of around 130 colleagues, some of whom have lived experience of disability, long-term health conditions, and Neurodiversity, and some of whom are allies to us all.

Ability runs a conference every year, various educational and listening events featuring colleagues and guests, and collaborates with our peer people networks to explore intersectional experience and challenges that may not be known to all. We want L&Q to offer a fair and kind experience for colleagues whose experience with other employers may have been less considerate of who they are, and what they may need.
