More about defence nuclear ENTERPRISE

About DNE

The Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE) is a cohesive network of organisations and arrangements responsible for maintaining the UK’s nuclear deterrent and submarine forces.

We collaborate closely within the sector to generate, design, produce, and maintain submarines, whilst ensuring proper infrastructure, personnel, and support.

DNE Partners

Our partnerships within the sector are vital for delivering the capabilities required for our nuclear deterrent. By working with suppliers throughout the UK, we access the best technology and expertise, meeting stringent security standards efficiently. These partnerships also contribute to the UK economy by supporting numerous highly skilled jobs nationwide.

The DNE was formed with a single focus for nuclear-related business. Our purpose is to deliver nuclear capability that deters threat and protects the nation.

We do this by:

  1. enabling the work of our partnerships and agreements through regular review and sustained collaboration.
  2. providing submarines and maintaining the nuclear deterrent.
  3. being a trusted advisor, policy maker and international partner.

All of this is underpinned by these core principles.

  • Operating as an integrated team, sharing the same mission.
  • Driving pace in our delivery via effective processes.
  • Making decisions that are ‘Best for Enterprise’.
  • Enhancing assurance and governance to support effective delivery.

Diversity & Inclusion

We’ve worked hard to create an organisation where everyone belongs, no matter who you are, where you come from or how you think. We know as well as anyone that a diverse team offers unique and insightful perspectives that fundamentally improve overall performance.

We have a range of employee networks dedicated to supporting and championing our fantastic people. To help with this, we’ve recently partnered with Vercida, a company that aims to help employers promote a positive and diverse working environment. It’s no secret that we have underrepresented groups within DNE but by promoting opportunities through Vercida, it’s our aim to reduce the imbalance.

Listen within the gallery section from a collection of talented individuals from a range of diverse backgrounds talk about their experiences in the DNE.
