VERCIDA paid a visit to the UK Athletics (UKA) exhibition ‘Women on Track’ at City Hall in London. The exhibition showcases photographs of both inspiring and empowering female athletic coaches in the UK. The exhibition was led by former athlete and now UK Athletics’ Vice President and Equaility, Diversity and Engagement lead Donna Fraser, ensuring UKA continues with its commitment to equality and diversity.
UKA’s organisational values are at the heart of all they do. Respect, accountability, communication, quality and integrity alongside equality, diversity and inclusion are of the upmost importance to their establishment.
Women on Track is the evolution of the ‘COACH’ exhibiton held in honour of Black History Month in October 2017. 'COACH' is a photographic project which focuses on black and Asian athletes. The collection of photographs tells a story of a rarely seen athlete-coach relationship. Adopting COACH’s principles, Women on Track’s sole aim is to encourage and inspire more females, both young and old, into athletics. The project captures behind the scenes moments and personal quotes shining a light on these empowered female athletic coaches.
“If you’ve got true character, it is amazing what you can achieve with resilience and hard work.”- Paula Dunn
