A recent article by Forbes explains some of the unique challenges that women face in the workplace hindering their career development. It also calls out allyship as a key ingredient to promoting equity and inclusion within the workplace.
The experiences of Khadija Aflah-Perre, Mads Howard, and other inspiring women at Sage highlight not only the impact of allyship in action, but also the significance of being surrounded by inspirational people. Their stories demonstrate how the presence of supportive and motivating individuals can profoundly influence one's path, fostering growth, resilience, and success.
Here are their stories.
For Khadija Aflah-Perre, two standout figures have helped shape her path

Khadija Aflah-Perre
“There are so many inspiring women at Sage, it’s difficult to choose. But two made a real difference for me.”
Kerry Sinclair, EVP of IT, hired Khadija in 2018 and quickly became a source of trust and encouragement.
“She put a lot of trust in me. It’s not common to have a woman at the head of IT. Kerry really pushed me to empower myself and embrace the role.”
Khadija also credits Cora Beghin, VP of Learning & Development, for encouraging her to share her expertise.
“Cora pushed me to mentor others, which helped me grow, gain confidence, and move forward in my career.”
Mads Howard speaks passionately about the people who have inspired her since joining Sage

Jade Hill and Mads Howard
“Two people I really admire have to be Sophia and Jade”
She described Sophia Adhami, Director of Product, Performance and Execution, as a life-changing mentor.
“Sophia taught me so much, not just about work, but about how to live with accountability and resilience. She’s been a phenomenal manager, colleague, and friend.”
Mads also gave a heartfelt nod to Jade Hill, a graduate in the cybersecurity team.
“Jade blew me away from the start. She’s got such a growth mindset and throws herself into everything. A true inspiration within and outside of the team.”
Cinzia Bazzo finds motivation in both global icons and close colleagues

Cinzia Bazzo
“Team Canada is a constant source of inspiration. Their passion and innovative spirit remind me to stay curious and adaptable.”
Cinzia also drew inspiration from Ruth Bader Ginsburg, whose legacy of fighting for gender equality and social justice left a lasting impression.
“She showed strength and determination in the face of so many challenges. Her legacy continues to guide me.”
For Amaya Souarez, inspiration starts at home

Amaya Souarez
“The number one person who inspires me is my grandmother, Rachel.”
Born in 1904, Amaya's grandmother Rachel charted her own path early in life, leaving a strict religious upbringing at 16 and forging a life of independence, from baking cakes for the governor of Idaho to owning her own ranch.
“She was strong, independent, and fearless.”
At Sage, Amaya finds fresh inspiration from new graduates in Cloud Operations.
“They bring such energy, earning certifications, contributing new ideas; it’s exciting to see their impact.”
Liezle White reflects on the power of belief and encouragement
