Sopra Steria, a European leader in consulting and digital services, has announced its official partnership with the charity Walking With The Wounded.
Established in 2010, Walking With The Wounded offers life-changing mental health, employment and care coordination programmes to support disadvantaged veterans in regaining their independence and obtaining sustainable employment.
The charity’s mission is closely aligned to Sopra Steria’s commitment to making a positive contribution to the Armed Forces community, as well as to wider society through its values-driven, ethical approach.
Sopra Steria will support Walking With The Wounded by sharing its knowledge and expertise in consulting and technology, as part of the company’s Tech For Good initiative. This summer the company’s innovation team and subject-matter experts will host a Hackathon with the charity, to identify where a difference can be made to its vital programmes of work.
In addition to becoming a key official partner of the charity, Sopra Steria has committed to raising awareness of its work, fundraising through employee-led initiatives and encouraging employees to use the company’s three-day volunteering leave provision to benefit the charity.
Sopra Steria’s Armed Forces Community Network, a forum dedicated to the wellbeing of the company’s Armed Forces community, will play an important role in ensuring that Walking With The Wounded is properly supported and in making the charity’s extensive resources available to its own members.
Sue-Ellen-Wright, Managing Director of Aerospace, Defence and Security at Sopra Steria, commented: “People are at the heart of our business and that’s why we’re working hard to ensure that our engagement with the Armed Forces community, both inside and outside of our company, is best practice. Our business counts many Armed Forces community members in its number, all of whom are valued as individuals bringing vital skills and experience that directly contribute to our success. It is a sad fact that many veterans do not have a positive experience when trying to navigate civilian life, which is why we’re delighted to have found a charity partner with whom we can exchange knowledge and experience to help make a tangible difference.”
Joel Oxberry, Walking With The Wounded Head of Income, commented: “We are delighted that Sopra Steria has chosen to support Walking With The Wounded and those who served. The past 18 months has highlighted the digital gap within the charity sector and this new partnership provides a fantastic opportunity to bolster our digital team, knowledge and ultimately better support the veteran community.”
