Improving homes: An update on the Social Housing Net Zero Heat Fund (SHNZHF)

We’ve begun our first major energy efficiency upgrade programme in Scotland through the Social Housing Net Zero Heat Fund (SHNZHF). More than 350 homes in Aberdeenshire, Cumbernauld, Dundee and Glasgow will benefit from improvements designed to make them warmer, greener and more energy efficient. 

The programme’s jointly funded by Sanctuary and the Scottish Government. These improvements will boost energy performance and help us meet the Energy Efficiency Standard for Social Housing (EESSH). 

Sanctuary’s one of the largest organisations to receive support through the SHNZHF, and our Energy team’s leading the work with support from colleagues across the organisation. 

Work underway in Glasgow 

The first phase of the programme began in mid February, with around 30 homes in Toryglen, Glasgow now receiving a mix of solar panels, air source heat pumps and loft insulation. 

Donna Williams, Group Director of Strategy and Sustainability, and Lorraine Quinn, Housing Manager, recently visited the site. They spoke with customers and contractors about how these improvements will make homes warmer, reduce energy use and support Sanctuary’s journey to becoming Net Zero by 2050.
