Sage – Cultivating Confidence for Women and Non-Binary Leaders in Tech

Gender Focus

In March, our London office buzzed with energy as we celebrated the close of the Thrive in Product pilot programme. More than just a graduation, it marked a turning point for female and non-binary technical talent at Sage, proving that when we invest in our people, we redefine what’s possible in tech.

This image captures a professional panel discussion or workshop taking place in a modern, sunlit office space. A group of women are seated in a semi-circle, engaged in a collaborative and focussed conversation. Key Elements of the Scene The Participants: Four women are seated in plush, light-coloured armchairs facing the camera. On the far left, a woman in a black top is looking down at a red tablet or notebook. To her right, a woman in a black blazer and dark red trousers looks toward the centre of the group. Next is a woman in a black dress and boots, leaning forward slightly. On the far right, a woman in a teal jumper is smiling and looking toward the other speakers. The Foreground: Three other individuals are seated with their backs to the camera, suggesting an audience or additional participants in the circle. The Setting: The room features large, floor-to-ceiling windows that provide a panoramic view of a city skyline with various brick buildings and rooftops. Atmosphere and Decor: The lighting is bright and natural, creating a warm, professional "golden hour" glow. In the centre sits a low, orange oval coffee table with a single mug on it. A large potted palm plant is visible on the right, adding a touch of greenery to the minimalist interior. The overall layout and body language suggest an intimate, high-level meeting, panel talk, or corporate "fireside chat."

The Catalyst for Change

Thrive in Product is a pilot development programme created to support women and nonbinary colleagues in Product to build confidence, amplify their impact, and thrive at every stage of their product careers.

Designed around learning, coaching, sponsorship and community, the programme brought together masterclasses, expert sessions, 1:1 and group coaching, and peer buddy groups. Together, participants explored topics such as confidence and impostor syndrome, leadership presence and influence, sponsorship and personal brand, and navigating bias in Product roles—always grounded in real, lived experiences and practical application.

The programme exists because confidence, visibility and representation still present real challenges in Product and tech. Thrive in Product was created in direct response to what colleagues told us they needed most: belief, advocacy, community, and practical tools to succeed, and to lead, on their own terms.

Participants described the programme as “transformative” and “catalytic.” It’s greatest power was in how it empowered its cohort to step into the spotlight at the centre of innovation.

Key Takeaways from our Alumni

Owning the Narrative: Thriving means owning your voice and your expertise. Participants reported a shift from battling imposter syndrome to leading with strategic confidence.

Visibility through Sponsorship: By providing access to high-impact projects, the programme put names “on the map,” opening doors to senior-level opportunities.

Radical Intentionality: Alumni are now prioritising self-investment over people-pleasing, setting boundaries, saying “no” to distractions, and advocating for their own career progression.

“The biggest shift was the ability to advocate for myself.”

The Final Celebration🎉

This video captures the final celebration event, where across the day, participants shared their stories through panel discussions, reflected on the growth they’ve experienced, and celebrated the impact they are already making in their roles. Managers, sponsors and the wider Product community joined to listen, learn and celebrate alongside them. Watch the highlights from the event below:

From powerful personal reflections to moments of connection, laughter and pride, the energy in the room was a reminder of why programmes like Thrive in Product matter. The final day wasn’t an ending – it was a marker of momentum, confidence and community that will continue well beyond the programme itself.
