Supportive workplaces - Sage and mental health

As an apprentice, I was excited to be starting my career, but I was also feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the new experiences and responsibilities. I was grateful to have a supportive workplace like Sage, who recognised the importance of mental health and offered me support when I needed it.

Sage provided me with access to resources and support for my mental health, which made me feel valued and cared for as an employee. They provided an employee assistance programme, which gave me access to counselling services and other mental health resources. They also offered training on how to manage stress and build resilience, which was incredibly helpful.

One of the most valuable things that Sage did for me was to encourage me to take mental health first aid training. This training gave me the skills and knowledge to recognise the signs of mental health challenges and to provide support to others who may be struggling. It also helped me understand how to take care of my own mental health, which is just as important.

Now that I have qualified as a mental health first aider, I feel more equipped to support myself and others in the workplace. I know that Sage values mental health and wants to create a culture of care and support. This has made a huge difference in how I feel about my workplace and my role as an employee.

Overall, knowing that my employer cares about my mental health and provides resources to support it has made me feel more valued as an employee. Qualifying as a mental health first aider has also given me a sense of purpose and the skills to support others who may be struggling. I am grateful for the support that Sage has provided, and I feel more confident in my ability to manage my mental health and support others in the workplace and beyond.
