PwC named in Top 50 employers for women!

PwC has twice been recognised for leading the way on workplace gender equality.

The firm has again been named in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2015, published in partnership with Opportunity Now, the workplace gender campaign from Business in the Community.

PwC has also won the Transparency Award at the Opportunity Now Excellence in Practice Awards 2015.

The award recognises organisations taking action to be transparent on their gender workforce data.

PwC is the first company in the accountancy sector to publish the findings of its gender pay gap analysis, as part of efforts to improve gender equality across its business, and one of only a handful of UK businesses that publicly report on their gender pay gap.

The firm runs a number of initiatives to promote gender diversity, one of which is sponsoring Women on Boards (WOB) UK, an organisation for women seeking to leverage their professional skills and experience into board and leadership roles.

On Thursday April 23 PwC’s Birmingham office hosted a Women on Boards event, attended by 50 female leaders from Midlands businesses.

Panellists shared their experiences of sitting on their respective boards in the sports sector, NHS and charities, and gave advice about the skills and experience needed on different types of boards.

Katie Warrington, director and head of diversity at PwC in the Midlands, said: “These awards show our focus on valuing difference and creating an inclusive workplace that supports better gender balance is paying off.

“We have set ourselves ambitious diversity targets and introduced a number of initiatives to foster greater inclusion, which have produced tangible benefits for our business.

“We seek to create an environment where women feel supported and can develop their networks and skills.

“Initiatives such as ‘shadow a female leader’, our gender balance programme, and the Breakthrough scheme for female senior managers, are helping us to encourage more women into the profession.

“The Women on Boards partnership is also an important initiative, opening up opportunities for businesswomen to bring their skills and experience to the wider community.”
