Muster the power of inclusion: Act now at the MOD

In the MOD we work in and create teams all the time: project teams, taskforces, combat teams, sub-units, working groups and more. These effective teams make Defence the formidable force it is, bringing together people from the Army, Navy, Airforce and the Civil Service.  The best teams work together and do the basics well; with everyone, every day, listening, questioning, being curious and respecting each other to create a deep sense of insight and collective understanding.  By using these skills, experience, and expertise in our teams, we are able to deliver and achieve our common goals.

26 September 2022 marks the start of National Inclusion Week (NIW) 2022, and we are pleased to be involved for the initiative’s tenth year. The theme for 2022 is, ‘Time to Act: The Power of Now.’

The MOD is putting on a full week of live discussions, pre-recorded sessions and a release of online resources. The sessions include: -

• Elite minds: how to create a successful team, the Special Forces way with Ollie Ollerton from “SAS Who Dares Wins”.
• How to bring inclusion to life - creating a diverse workforce is only step one. It will make no positive difference — indeed it could be negative — if that diversity does not come hand in hand with equity and inclusion.
• Faith and Belief in Defence - Discussion Panel - A panel event involving multiple Faith and Belief Networks across Defence. A chance to discuss various faiths and beliefs and their meaning to Defence personnel, dispel misconceptions and talk about progress in the faith and belief space.
• Authentic allyship – what makes a good ally - delivered by the MOD LGBTQ+ Network
• Menopause, Menopause, and Menopause - Update on progress to educate and build understanding across the Department, celebrating our achievements so far.
• The pursuit of excellence: Why high-performing teams rely on good teamwork
