Nationwide Supports Former Armed Forces Personnel

Nationwide has launched the second wave of its Military Transition Programme – a scheme dedicated to recruiting and supporting former Armed Forces personnel.

The world’s largest building society will be holding an insight event (This link will open in a new window) at its Swindon headquarters on January 14. The event is focused on recruiting former Armed Forces personnel to project manager posts within the Society as part of its Military Transition Programme. The event will provide potential candidates with information about working for the Society as well as general recruitment advice and tips. Following the insight event, the next stage of the recruitment process is an assessment day which will take place on February 16.

The Military Transition Programme supports new recruits in their new roles by providing extra training which takes into account the different skills they have acquired throughout their service as well as their varied experiences. Through a buddying system, new recruits are paired with existing ex-Armed Forces employees who have already made the transition from the military to Nationwide.

The programme aims to attract people who are interested in project management posts within Nationwide’s Business Transformation department, which is responsible for major projects including implementing the latest technology within branches across the country and bringing new products to market.

Kevin Moylan, Head of Project Management Practice and the Military Transition Programme Sponsor at Nationwide said: “The excellent skills former Armed Forces services personnel have acquired through their service and the investment the military has made in their development makes these individuals a real asset to Nationwide.

“Our customers can benefit from their unique skillset and, in turn, we can support them as they make the transition from the military to a corporate environment, and offer them a rewarding second career with one of the best big employers in the UK*.”

The Military Transition Programme is part of a wider work stream within Nationwide which is supporting the military community recognising the challenges serving and former Armed Forces personnel and their families often face as a result of their military background. As well as the Military Transition programme, Nationwide has also been working with the military to give advice and information to first time buyers on purchasing their own home.

Nationwide is also working with military charities including the Royal British Legion, Help for Heroes and SSAFA to support various areas of the military community.
