Nationwide Building Society are proud to have sponsored the Business in the Community Workplace Gender Equality Awards this year.
Business in the Community is the Prince’s Responsible Business Network. Through this network, members work together to tackle a wide range of issues that are essential to building a fairer society and a more sustainable future. The Gender Equality Campaign is committed to supporting employers to create workplaces that work for women.
This year, the awards ceremony recognised nine employers for their leadership in creating equal and inclusive workplaces for women.
The awards ceremony, hosted by Sky News presenter Dharshini David, took place last night (20th April 2016) at the Hilton Park Lane during Business in the Community’s Responsible Business Week.
This year’s event celebrated 25 years of Business in the Community’s gender equality campaign and marked the launch of the ‘Same But Different’ photography project, celebrating women’s unique identities. More than 500 business leaders also heard personal perspectives from inspirational speakers including during the night.
Kathryn Nawrockyi, Gender Equality Director, Business in the Community, said: “Congratulations to all our 2016 award winners and finalists. They’ve demonstrated that working to achieve equality is about more than just creating ‘opportunities for women’ – it’s about creating workplaces and ways of working that work for both women and men.
“ This is the third year Nationwide has supported the Workplace Gender Equality Awards and once again I’m enormously impressed by the number of organisations championing gender equality and demonstrating innovative and creative ways to continue to drive this agenda. The Award winners and finalists offer outstanding examples of best practice in supporting women in the workplace, and we would like to congratulate them on their success. ”
