Nationwide: Side By Side - Volunteering together in your community
Category: Employer Focus, Professional Services, Disabilities, Finance
For many year's we've been supporting charities through fundraising and volunteering, but this summer we're launching something new and we're really excited!
Side by Side is our first ever joint member and employee volunteering project. It gives members and employees the opportunity to work together to support their local communities by giving up their valuable time. The Side by Side project is launching on the 19th of May in Bournemouth and will run for two weeks, supporting the four following charity projects:
BCHA - The charity provides a range of support services for socially excluded people in Bournemouth including learning and work programmes, outreach and rehabilitation. Our volunteers will be helping to design and deliver a workshop to help the charities service users with employability.
James Burns House - The charity is a residential care home for physically disabled adults. Our volunteers will be rejuvenating a garden area for the residents to enjoy, and taking part in the house's social activities during the day.
Victoria Education Centre - The charity is a residential and day school which offers specialised care and therapy for disabled young people. Our volunteers will be helping to create a pets corner area suitable for wheelchair users, and clear a memorial area, a place a where student can use for quiet reflection.
Autism Wessex - The charity supports children, young people and adults with autism to live independent lives. They run a specialist school for children and residential homes for adults. Our volunteers will be repainting and refurbishing areas of the school to improve the environment.
We've got 100 places to fill so if you live in the Bournemouth or Poole area we need you!
