Ministry of Defence Guard Service

Chloe joined the MOD Guard Service (MGS) in 2022, beginning her Civil Service journey as an Operational Manager in the Southwest. Coming from a customer‑service background, security was new territory, but with strong networks and support, she quickly adapted and developed her skills.

Finding Flexibility as a Military Parent

As part of a military family that relocated frequently, maintaining a stable career had always been difficult. After the birth of her second child, Chloe sought new opportunities and discovered the Civil Service. Its valued flexibility allowed her to balance childcare while progressing her career. MGS also supported her voluntary role as a Coastguard Rescue Officer, allowing on‑call flexibility and additional leave when required.

Relocating and Continuing to Grow

When her family moved again, Chloe benefitted from the Civil Service redeployment scheme, something unavailable in previous roles. MGS offered her an Operational Manager role in the Midlands, ensuring she experienced no employment gap and could continue contributing to her family.

A New Chapter in Talent Acquisition

Ten months later, Chloe pursued an opportunity within the Talent and Acquisition Team. She is thriving in the role and excited about future possibilities within the Civil Service.
