Maritime & Coastguard Agency: Join the fourth emergency service

We asked Marie Mitchell, Deputy Aviation Contract Manager at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) to tell us about her role:

“I have a great role within the MCA Aviation Team where I work at the forefront of delivering a successful, high profile UK Search and Rescue (SAR) Helicopter service. My role includes the responsibility for the monitoring of the supplier performance, KPIs and financial management.

“I work with our service provider and the search and rescue bases to monitor and manage the key performance indicators in accordance with the UK SAR contract. I have fun reading our daily operational reports and looking to see what the air crews have dealt with in the previous 24hrs.

“If you like working with figures, you’ll love this aspect of the role. I’m responsible for the financial management of the MCAs aviation contracts. I oversee and manage all budgetary preparation, regularly working closely with finance colleagues to ensure actual and forecast expenditure of all aviation contracts is reported to the various MCA boards.

“My role is exciting and varied, as on occasion I will go on site visits to DfT, SAR bases and the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre. The role is fun and challenging and therefore I would love to have someone else join me in managing this contract and delivering this exceptional fourth emergency service.”
