Ministry of Defence lit in rainbow colours to celebrate LGB personnel - GOV.UK

Here at the MOD we use LGBT+ History Month to give us an opportunity to look back and remind ourselves of the barriers that our LGBT+ community have faced, the progress we’ve made but also how far we still have to go.

We encourage our workforce to join in and take the opportunity to hear from colleagues, share experiences and meet network members through ice breakers and virtual coffee mornings. Get involved with webinars, blogs and social media content throughout the week.

LGBT+ History Month will be celebrated throughout the MOD with a number of events being organised by our LGBT+ networks across the organisation.  These include a presentation that supports National HIV Testing Week, exploring LGBT+ identities, the importance of Allies and the history of Polari, the language that was developed for the secret LGBT community at the time.

We like to educate, inform and celebrate our workforce.
