Edleen John will begin her new role with the FA on Monday 14 September
We're delighted to announce that Edleen John has joined the organisation as our new International, Corporate Affairs and Co-Partner for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Director.
Edleen will join from her role as an inclusion and diversity consultant across a range of industries. Having previously held several other leadership roles, including as a director at KPMG, vice president at Morgan Stanley and currently as director of Tech Talent Charter, Edleen will now sit on our senior management team, reporting to CEO Mark Bullingham.
Starting on Monday 14 September, Edleen will be responsible for the international and corporate affairs strategy across the entire FA portfolio. This includes leading on the development and communication of public policy messaging for the organisation and, alongside HR director Rachel Brace, co-partnering on the delivery of our equality, diversity and inclusion plan.
"Edleen brings an impressive track record with her to the FA, having successfully delivered transformational strategies across a number of high-profile organisations, as well as driving commitment to inclusion and diversity," said Bullingham.
"Working closely with all of our stakeholders, Edleen will play an integral role in driving positive changes across English football as we strive to best serve the game on and off the pitch."
Speaking about her appointment, Edleen added: "I’m truly thrilled to be taking on this leadership role at a time where there is a real motivation for the FA to work alongside the UK government, international governing bodies, the FA Inclusion Advisory Board, and across professional and grassroots football.
"During these challenging and uncertain times, football can play a pivotal role in encouraging and promoting physical and mental wellbeing and by working closely with our stakeholders across government and football, we will be able to engage with people from all backgrounds and social groups to create further opportunities to play the game.
"The FA is dedicated to serving the English game for the benefit of everyone who loves, watches and plays football. Coupled with the obvious impetus for change in the equality, diversity and inclusion space, it’s essential that the FA is at the heart of setting the right example, both on and off the pitch. Being able to address some of the most critical challenges facing society today means that there couldn’t be a more compelling time for me to join the FA."
