Sanctuary celebrates Cultural Diversity Day

At Sanctuary, we’re proud to have colleagues and customers from many different cultures. For the past few years, we have loved celebrating this through Cultural Diversity Day.

The main organisers of the event are the committee of our Race Equality Network, who have a strong mission of driving race equality and empowering ethnic minority colleagues across Sanctuary.

We hosted events and celebrations across the country, learning about and appreciating different cultures through sharing cultural food, wearing traditional dress, mehndi workshops and having open discussions about culture.

Colleagues also put together a wonderful collection of food stories, with each piece talking about the significance of a specific dish to their culture and what it means to them on a more personal level.

Embedding an inclusive culture is one of our four key objectives in our Inclusion for All strategy. It’s essential to us that our colleagues feel they can freely express themselves in the workplace, and working with our networks to celebrate events like Cultural Diversity Day is an important part of this.

Service Manager and co-chair of our Race Equality Network, Lindi Urubusi, said: “It was such a fantastic day and so many people got involved all across Sanctuary.

“Cultural Diversity Day has grown so much over the past couple of years and I’m excited to see how it will continue to grow in the future.”
