Celebrating LGBTQ+ History Month at dunnhumby
Category: LGBTQIA+ (Sexual Orientation), Staff Network Group
dunnhumby kicked off this year’s LGBTQ+ History Month with a meaningful Charity Panel event, held in collaboration with Booker Group and our LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group, dhProud.
The event brought together passionate voices and powerful insights, setting the tone for a month of learning, reflection, and celebration.

We were honoured to welcome speakers from two remarkable organisations—Switchboard, the National LGBTQ+ Support Line, and George House Trust. These charities have long been at the forefront of LGBTQ+ advocacy and support, and their representatives led a thought-provoking conversation on the importance of remembering and honouring LGBTQ+ history, especially in today’s climate.
Hosted by Executive Sponsors from both dunnhumby and Booker Group, the panel discussion delved into the critical role activism and charities have played—and continue to play—within the LGBTQ+ community. The conversation also highlighted the importance of allyship, offering guidance on how allies can provide meaningful support: by educating themselves, asking questions, and using their voices to advocate for inclusion and equality.
One of the speakers powerfully stated: “We need to break the silence, so we can stop the fear, the discrimination and ignorance.” These words encapsulate the spirit of LGBTQ+ History Month—amplifying stories that have been unheard for too long and creating space for dialogue, empathy, and change.
Understanding the history of the LGBTQ+ community is vital if we are to build a more inclusive future. Events like this remind us of the progress made and the work still to be done.
A heartfelt thank you to our panellists—Stephanie Fuller, Jim Kemp, Anita Binns, and Paul Fairweather—as well as our Executive Sponsors, Matthew O'Grady and Paul Whyte, for their leadership and support.
Happy LGBTQ+ History Month from all of us at dunnhumby.
