The Setting The Houses: The background showcases modern, two-story residential homes built with light-coloured brick or stone. The roofs are fitted with dark grey tiles and feature solar panels, highlighting a focus on energy efficiency or sustainability. Surroundings: The houses have neatly fenced backyards, paved driveways, and small patches of green grass along the kerbs. The sky is somewhat overcast with white and grey clouds. Graphic Overlay & Branding Branding: In the top left corner, the word "Sanctuary" is prominently displayed in a clean, black sans-serif font, with a stylised green 'S' logo. (This refers to Sanctuary, a major housing and care provider in the UK). Design Elements: A dark blue-teal gradient overlay fades in from the left side of the image. Sweeping white curved lines with arrowheads cut across the graphic, giving the image a dynamic, forward-moving corporate look.

The image shows the Discovery Building at the Rothera Research Station in Antarctica. It is a large, two-storey modern facility characterised by its striking bright blue exterior, designed to stand out against the stark, monochromatic polar landscape. Architectural Details Structure: The building has a long, aerodynamic shape with a distinct curved roofline on one side, which serves as a wind deflector to prevent snow build-up. Control Tower: A multi-sided, glass-walled control tower sits atop the flat section of the roof, providing a 360-degree view of the station and the surrounding runway and wharf areas. Windows: Rows of rectangular windows line the upper and lower floors, designed to maximise natural light while maintaining high thermal efficiency. Foundation: The building is set on a solid concrete plinth, elevating the metal-clad structure slightly above the rocky, permafrost ground. Surroundings and Context Landscape: The building is situated in a rugged, rocky environment with sparse patches of snow. In the background, jagged, snow-capped mountains and glaciers rise under a pale blue, slightly cloudy sky. Logistics: To the left and right of the building, several colourful shipping containers (blue, orange, and red) and heavy machinery, including a yellow telehandler, indicate ongoing operational and construction activity. Branding: The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) logo—a circular emblem featuring a map of Antarctica—is prominently displayed on the side of the building. The overall impression is one of cutting-edge engineering and resilience, a high-tech "hub" sitting in one of the most remote and extreme environments on Earth.

We’ve begun our first major energy efficiency upgrade programme in Scotland through the Social Housing Net Zero Heat Fund (SHNZHF). More than 350 homes in Aberdeenshire, Cumbernauld, Dundee and Glasgow will benefit from improvements designed to make them warmer, greener and more energy efficient. The programme’s jointly funded by Sanctuary and the Scottish Government. These improvements will boost energy performance and help us meet the Energy Efficiency Standard for Social Housing (EESSH). Sanctuary’s one of the largest organisations to receive support through the SHNZHF, and our Energy team’s leading the work with support from colleagues across the organisation. Work underway in Glasgow The first phase of the programme began in mid February, with around 30 homes in Toryglen, Glasgow now receiving a mix of solar panels, air source heat pumps and loft insulation. Donna Williams, Group Director of Strategy and Sustainability, and Lorraine Quinn, Housing Manager, recently visited the site. They spoke with customers and contractors about how these improvements will make homes warmer, reduce energy use and support Sanctuary’s journey to becoming Net Zero by 2050.
