Breaking Barriers: Defence Dyslexia Network Earns National Recognition

Neurodiversity

Defence continues to take steps to ensure it remains an inclusive employer and has been recognised for it’s efforts to improve neuro-inclusivity.

Bronze Quality Mark from the British Dyslexia Association (BDA).

One step to achieving this was through securing corporate memberships to Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) and Sunflowers Hidden Disabilities, alongside obtaining the Bronze Quality Mark from the British Dyslexia Association (BDA).

Working within Defence, our staff networks work tirelessly to raise awareness of neurodiversity and improve the lived experience for our people. Through the invaluable efforts of the Defence Dyslexia Network (DDN), Defence has successfully obtained the Bronze Quality Mark from the BDA. One requirement for the Bronze Quality Mark is Defence’s commitment to the Dyslexia Friendly Workplace Pledge.

This prestigious status was awarded to Defence due to the network’s efforts across several conferences all aimed at promoting awareness and encouraging understanding. The network has also created a Dyslexia Toolkit, which outlines the lived experience of dyslexia, including challenges, strengths and skills, whilst providing advice on how to seek support and thrive at work.

“This is a fantastic step forward and highlights the success of the network in advancing the support for dyslexics in Defence. It highlights the importance Defence places on all staff being given the opportunity of becoming the best they can be.”
