Three things you didn’t know about working at Accenture

Category: Disability (Learning/Mental/Physical), Training & Development

Accenture aims to attract a mix of brilliant people from all backgrounds. The company has an unwavering commitment to inclusion and diversity, which are fundamental to the Accenture culture and core values. The diversity of the company makes it more innovative, competitive and creative, which means a better service for clients. The company’s approach also puts it at number one in the Top 100 Diversity & Inclusion Companies 2018 for Thomson Reuters.

But it’s not just about attracting the right people. It’s also about keeping them.

Research shows engaged employees are 42% more likely to evaluate their overall lives highly, meaning they’re less likely to leave. To encourage engagement at work, Accenture offers a number of initiatives. Employees can explore personal and professional passions by getting involved in a variety of networks, initiatives and events. From volunteering and charity work to participating in corporate social responsibilities, everyone’s encouraged to make the most of every opportunity.

1. Disability Inclusion Advantage

Companies that embrace best practices for employing and supporting more persons with disabilities have outperformed their peers. These companies demonstrate 28% higher revenue and 30% higher economic profit margins over a four-year period. This is why Accenture actively promotes a Disability Inclusion Advantage. Accent on Enablement is a network and forum open to all UK employees wishing to help create improved disability confidence. This mix of attitude and practical strategies led the company to win a Disability Smart Award in 2017.

2. African Caribbean Network

Employers with diverse teams have 35% better financial results. Accenture’s consistently ranked in “The Business in the Community Race Equality Awards” and won the Award for Progression in 2018. The company brought together its African-Caribbean Network, HR teams and global I&D Centre of Expertise to design the Accelerate programme. This programme is designed to provide development, education and mentoring while embracing heritage and having candid conversations about race. But it’s not all about career and progression. It’s also about making new friends across the business, changing the company culture for the better and celebrating diverse origins.

3. Gender Pay Gap

Accenture has committed to achieving a gender-balanced workforce by 2025 and increasing women in senior roles to 25% by 2020. By recruiting 50/50 men and women at entry level, the company aims to redress the gender balance. Gender-specific leadership training is provided to employees as well as unconscious bias training for all executives. To improve the retention rate of employees, the company strives to help everyone achieve a desirable work/life balance.
