ABOUT

Welcome to Bradnet

Bradnet aims to keep disability as a 'rights' issue, and promotes The Social Model approach to disability in all of its work.

The two main services we provide are the Independent Living Service which offers Home Care and Social Inclusion and the Outreach and Advocacy Service which advocates for and secures people's rights and voice

We recognise that there are many barriers that disabled people face. These can be physical, inappropriate attitudes, lack of opportunity and poverty.

We have designed this website with features that make it fully accessible and easy to use by everyone, including those with visual, hearing, physical and speech impairments.

Our People

Bradnet was previously known as the Asian Disability Network (ADN).

In 2005 we changed our name to Bradnet and since then we have continued to support disabled people of all communities to achieve independence and autonomy through our support framework of outreach, advocacy, information, advice and guidance.

Bradnet wishes to go on a journey of real growth so that it can reach more and more people throughout Bradford and beyond, however, it is important that our ethos and principles remain clear and evident. In order to achieve this clear focus, the following issues are very important to us as an organisation:

  • Bradnet is a real disabled people’s organisation
  • Bradnet is wholly committed to the social model approach to disability
  • Bradnet bases all its work on the 15 needs for independent living
  • Bradnet moves increasingly towards a business model in order to remove the usual paternalistic and charitable perception of disability by adopting enterprise and ethical business activity
  • Bradnet remains committed to sound partnerships and alliances that advance the cause of independence and autonomy for disabled people.

Over the next 3 years Bradnet will be committed to deliver on service-specific business plans as well as an overall organisational delivery plan so that Bradnet remains sustainable and fit for purpose. Having recently undergone a legal restructure Bradnet will deliver its advocacy and ‘provision’ services through dedicated companies within the Bradnet group structure.

Within the drive for growth Bradnet will remain committed to ensuring that disabled people are involved at all levels within the organisation including service users, staff, governance and volunteer base.
