We are looking for a Young Persons Schools Worker to join our team in Lancaster.

Do you have a great rapport with young people? Are you passionate about providing education, information and guidance around substance misuse, risk taking, and supporting young people to make positive choices? If so, this could be the role for you.

As a Young Persons Schools Project Worker, youll provide community-based support, information, training, education and guidance to young people in relation to substance misuse. Youll work closely with schools, local authorities and other partners to develop and deliver substance and risk taking awareness education, while also helping young people access appropriate support where they need it. Main duties of the job

As a Young Persons Schools Project Worker, youll identify and work with local schools to develop and deliver substance and risk taking awareness education sessions. Youll build positive relationships with schools, young people and other local stakeholders, contributing to the development of an effective education programme and ensuring learning and outcomes are monitored.

You'll develop and deliver multiple programmes and information sessions around peer support, risk taking, and substance use in both 1:1s and group settings. You'll proactively engage with young people via 1:1 interactions, information stalls, assemblies and group sessions to provide them with the support, training, education and guidance they need to better understand the implication of the situations they may face and the decision they may take.

As a Young Person's Schools Worker, we offer a starting salary of £26,250 per annum. The salary for this role is on an incremental scale and will rise each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, to £30,900 per annum. A driving license and access to a vehicle is an essential requirement for this position.

This role is offered on a fixed term contract until 31st March 2027 and will work on site, on a full time basis. The team would also consider term time hours, if this is something you're interested in please note this in your application.

• We're looking for a compassionate and motivated individual who can build effective relationships with young people, schools and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You'll have experience of working with young people and families, and an understanding of drugs and alcohol issues and their impact on children, young people, parents, carers and families.
• You will be highly organised, have excellent communication skills, and be able to manage your time effectively. You will work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure a high-quality service is maintained. Above all, we are looking for someone who is passionate about what we do and has a positive and engaging approach to our clients and key stakeholders.
• To be able to do this job successfully, you will have:
• OCN/NVQ level 3 or equivalent or willing to achieve this within 12 months
• experience of working with young people and families
• sound knowledge of safeguarding and the ability to put safeguarding processes into practice
• evidence of multi-agency working
• evidence of continuous professional development
• excellent relationship building skills with a range of people from a wide variety of backgrounds
• the ability to work effectively on your own and as part of a team, sharing your skills knowledge and experience
• good organisational skills to be able to manage your time effectively, prioritising your work and being able to cope with the pressure of competing demands
• the ability to record and maintain accurate case details and in a timely manner
• effective IT skills, able to use different packages and digital media
• The ability to deliver sessions to both small and large groups of individuals
• access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence
• This role is subject to a satisfactory enhanced level DBS and barred lists check.
