Our Believe Positive Directions Service is partly funded by the National Lottery and provides support to young people aged 16 - 25 years. You will work closely with a range of agencies and organisations to help young people overcome challenges and achieve their employment goals.

We are looking for an organised, willing and compassionate worker to join our service in Swansea. This role centres on building positive connection with young people in Swansea to develop the skills and gain experience ready for the world of work.

A bit more about the Project: Believe: Positive Destinations is a 12-week work readiness programme for young people aged 16 to 25. Developed specifically for young people who have little or no experience of the world of work. It is a holistic programme, helping foster the development of of workplace skills, build their aspirations, increase self-confidence and develop strategies for promoting their well being.

As the Project Co-ordinator you will assist the Children's Services Manager with the continued development of this service. This will include maintaining on and building a network of work placement providers and referral sources.

What will your day look like?

• Supporting young people to achieve their development goals in a person centred approach.
• Deliver of a 12-week work readiness programme including the delivery of identified Agored Cymru accredited units.
• Tracking Young People's progress through the use of outcomes scoring system to reflect their journey.
• Lead and maintain relationships with appropriate placement providers.
• Gather and collate data and contribute to report writing.
• Promote the service at networking events and online.
• Establish links with organisations who refer young people into the project, including, Education, Leaving Care and NEET services.
• Flexible Working to meet the needs of young people, the service and your home life balance.

What we would like to see in your application?

• Self-motivated and highly organised.
• Experience of working with young people aged 16 to 25 years in a one to one and group work context.
• Experience of working with young people who are NEET (not engaged in education, employment or training)
• Experience of delivering group work or 1-2-1 programmes.
• Ability to network and establish strong positive working relationships with partner organisations.
• Experience of mentoring or willing to take a lead role.
• Desire to work towards positive outcomes for young people.
• Experience of keeping data and formal writing/reports.

Desirable Criteria:

• Ability to speak and write in Welsh (advert and recruitment documentation available in Welsh if requested).

Additional Information:

Your office base will be at the Barnardo's Swansea premises, Penlan and you will be required to travel within the locality to deliver the sessions.
