Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Diagnosis and treatment of patients

Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge, allowing for all proper delegation to and training of your staff.

There will be a fixed job plan which will be agreed by the Directorate and Clinical Lead on appointment/.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full registration with GMC
  • FRCS or equivalent
  • Success in Intercollegiate specialty examination or overseas equivalent or specialty accreditation if acquired prior to introduction of such examinations
  • Entry on Specialist Register in Urology Surgery (or entry expected within 6 months via CCT from date of interview)Entry on Specialist Register in Urology Surgery via CESR


Desirable criteria
  • Other higher degree (PhD, Masters)
  • Successful completion of specialist Urology Fellowship


Clinical Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • Clinical training and experience in relevant specialty


Desirable criteria
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCST in relevant specialty
  • Interest in radical prostatectomy


Professional and Multidisciplinary Team Working

Essential criteria
  • Experience of supervising junior medical staff
  • Attendance at MDT meetings


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Audit management
  • Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates


Management and Administrative Experience

Essential criteria
  • Good leadership skills, communication and interpersonal skills


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Audit management
