Job title: UKVI Compliance Officer
Reports to: Deputy Head of Student Immigration and Compliance
Responsible for: CAS Coordinator or Attendance Administrator
Service: Academic Registry
Grade: RU06
Main purpose of the job: The UKVI Compliance Team operates across the university to ensure compliance with UK Visas &
Immigration (UKVI) regulations in the interest of safeguarding the university's Sponsorship Licence regarding
students subject to immigration control.
The UKVI Compliance Officer will provide a helpful and efficient first point of contact for guidance on
university visa processes and policy, and duties essential to maintaining compliance with UKVI guidance and
the Immigration Rules.
Main duties and responsibilities: 1. Work closely with the Deputy Head of Student Immigration and Compliance and with colleagues
across the University to ensure the University is fully compliant with its sponsorship licence duties.
2. Maintain up to date knowledge of UKVI requirements and an overview of the Student route points-
based system, engaging with training opportunities and ensuring that own knowledge and expertise is
developed, and assisting in the training of others
3. Checking Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) requests and documentation to ensure
students meet requirements.
4. Generating CAS to support visa applications for new and current students
5. Assisting in the University's registration process/visa checks and following up any missing documents.
6. Assist with reporting changes to student circumstances including work placements, interruptions,
withdrawals and course changes to UKVI via the UKVI SMS system.
7. Support the Attendance Administrator with the monitoring and tracking of attendance and
engagement of UKVI sponsored students. Providing basic immigration advice to prospective and
current students
8. Managing e-mails, telephone calls and face-to-face enquiries in connection with UKVI compliance
duties
9. Assisting in the development, production and dissemination of visa guidelines, policies and
procedures.
10. Organise and maintain Student route files, ensuring that all the correct documentation is readily
available in the event of an audit
11. Check and upload student route E-visas.
12. Line management of the CAS Coordinator/Attendance Administrator
13. To undertake any other requirements commensurate with the seniority of the post/as required by the
Head of Service

Additional Information • The appointment is offered on a permanent and Full-time basis immediately, subject to references. • The appointment is usually made at the bottom of the range. Where a candidate's current total
remuneration already exceeds the bottom point, consideration will be given to the level of skills, experience and profile that the candidate is bringing to the role. The total remuneration of other staff
doing the same or similar work within the department who have similar skills, experience and profile should also be taken into account.
• The University operates service-led hybrid working arrangements which may allow for 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home although peak times might require flexibility, and any hybrid arrangement will be determined by the service and in agreement with the line manager.
• Peak times for this role are classed as but not limited to during Enrolment periods throughout the year. Core working hours during these times are 9am to 5pm, 5 days a week in person on campus.
• This appointment will not require a DBS check. • The annual leave entitlement is 30 days p.a., additionally there are 3 - 4 days for the University's
operational efficiency initiatives at Christmas. • Your normal hours of work will be between 35-40 hours per week, plus a lunch break of one hour each
day, with a full professional commitment expected entailing working flexibly beyond core hours if required.
