Job overview

The Trust Grade in Anaesthetics will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and compassionate anaesthetic care across a wide range of surgical and medical specialties at Newham Hospital. The post offers exposure to general anaesthesia, obstetrics (including a busy labour ward), gynaecology, orthopaedics (with opportunities to develop skills in
regional anaesthesia), pain management, and paediatrics.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will participate in a structured weekly teaching and training programme, which includes departmental teaching, simulation sessions, and journal clubs. In addition, the Trust Grade doctor will benefit from a monthly EGAD (Education, Governance and Audit Day), which provides protected time for teaching, audit, quality
improvement, and professional development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

At NUH we have an active anaesthetic research department led by Dr Bhavesh Gohil. The team includes research nurses, consultants and student involvement. We have been involved in commercial and NIHR funded studies. Current active studies include SINFONIA, GLUCOVITAL and POP-I. Recent studies include include FLOELA and SAPPHIRE. We Nibedita Ghosh Internal CESR lead Suprana Das Zheyna Konstantinova Airway Lead, Jude Oronsaye Acute Pain Lead, Costas Papoustos College Tutor, Cathal McCabe C-Sections Lead, Dr Ahmed Hassan Governance Lead, Kishore Maney NATSSIPS lead, Bhavesh Gohil Locum consultant - Research Lead, Walid Moftah Locum consultant - EGAD/ PROMPT lead , Shuaib Sheik Locum consultant, Ejaz Haq Associate Specialist, Specialist, and trust grade doctors 12, CT1/2/3 including ACCS 4, Trust CESR, program candidates 2, Acute pain and preoperative assessment, nurses, and nurse specialists 2, have also made significant contribution to the Pan London Perioperative Audit & Research, network and guided a large number of our doctors through the Associate PI scheme.

• Full GMC registration and a licence to practice

Desirable criteria

• FRCA or equivalent
• Higher degree such as MSc or PhD
