You will:
  • Carry out inspections and lead complex investigations across a range of Trading Standards functions to ensure compliance with legislation, protecting consumers and supporting legitimate businesses.
  • Investigate complaints, gather evidence and take appropriate enforcement action.
  • Provide expert advice and support to businesses and provide advice through Primary Authority Partnerships, helping businesses achieve and maintain compliance.
  • Lead and deliver projects, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partner agencies to achieve shared objectives for consumers, businesses and communities.
  • Support and contribute to preventative initiatives, campaigns and projects that raise awareness, improve compliance and reduce the incidence of consumer detriment.
  • Support, mentor, and develop colleagues, sharing knowledge and promoting high professional standards across the service.

To succeed in this role, you must have:

A recognised Trading Standards qualification (DTS, DCATS, DCA or Stage 2 CTSI Professional Competency Framework). Appointment grade and salary will reflect qualifications, competency and relevant experience.

  • Problem Solving and Prevention - Identify emerging risks, trends and areas of potential consumer harm and take a proactive approach to preventing problems before they escalate.
  • Adaptability - Demonstrate a flexible approach and a positive, can-do attitude.

Successful applicants must achieve and maintain Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) Level 2.
