Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Level 3 apprenticeship in health and social care (NVQ III)
  • GCSE English and Maths - grade 9-4 or Functional skills English and Maths - level 2
  • Evidence of having attended clinical training and how this has been put into practice


Desirable criteria
  • Relevant degree, e.g. level 5 foundation degree (healthcare related) sports therapy, sports science, rehabilitation science, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology
  • A level in human biology


Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of working as a band 3 in a Therapy support worker role or student therapist role
  • Comfortable using clinical and administrative IT systems as part of daily workflow


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of facilitating group-based activities and delivering education sessions to patients in a healthcare or community setting


Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • To have an in-depth knowledge of the roles of Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist within rehabilitation and the ability to support their interventions to promote patient independence, recovery and safe discharge planning
  • To have an in-depth knowledge of rehabilitation
  • To have an in-depth knowledge of the cardiovascular system
  • To have an in-depth knowledge of the respiratory system
  • To have an in-depth knowledge of the musculoskeletal system


Key Skills/Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, accurate and timely patient documentation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to use verbal and non-verbal communication effectively, demonstrate active listening, and adapt communication styles to meet individual needs
  • Ability to work autonomously, managing own workload and prioritising effectively.
  • Sound knowledge of therapy-related equipment and the ability to assess, select and instruct others in its appropriate use


Aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility and accountability for own practice, with the confidence to work independently and the judgement to seek support or escalate concerns when appropriate
  • Ability to support and promote the learning and development of patients, carers, colleagues and learners through teaching, coaching and role modelling
  • Actively contribute to the team effort including service development


Other

Essential criteria
  • Willingness and ability to participate in 7-day services
  • Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives cultural, religious and emotional needs and beliefs
  • Able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trusts Values and Behaviours
  • Be prepared to work across sites as and when required
  • Professional appearance and behaviour
  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS check against vulnerable groups barred lists


Desirable criteria
  • Current full UK driving licence


Disclosure & Barring Check Fee

Where your role requires a DBS check, the Trust will pay the fee upfront and reclaim the cost (including a £5 admin fee) from your first month's salary. Volunteers are exempt.
