There's no place like St. Andrew's!

We truly believe that there's no place like St. Andrew's! We provide the very best opportunities for all our pupils, to engage them through first-hand experiences and to enrich their curriculum as widely as possible. We work together to create an environment for learning, through a blended approach, that allows our children to be happy and safe; an environment that allows stimulating, interactive, experiential play and learning opportunities fit for the 21st Century. St. Andrew's prides itself on being at the heart of its community; situated on the eastern side of Newport it is a large primary school (capacity for 740 pupils) that serves an area that is socially disadvantaged. At St. Andrew's, one strength is the positive ethos and team spirit; we believe that diversity is a strength, to be respected and celebrated by all those who learn, teach and visit here. St. Andrew's Primary School's ethos and high-quality inclusion for pupils with ALN are a significant strength of the school. We aim to ensure that everyone has the same chances and opportunities irrespective of race, sex, class or disability. Our school motto is 'Learning together, we reach for the stars'.

The Head Teacher and Governing Body of St. Andrew's Primary School are looking to appoint a highly motivated, flexible, enthusiastic, reliable and caring teaching assistant (Level 2).

The role will involve working mainly in one of our Learning Resource Base classes to support vulnerable pupils with Additional Learning and Behavioural Needs.

Ideally you will have some experience of working with children in a school setting as well as experience of supporting children with additional needs and challenging behaviour.

Holidays must be taken during school closure periods. The appointment process will involve an interview with members of the school leadership team and a selection of Governors.

This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS).

Closing date: Friday 30th October 2026
Shortlisting: Tuesday 3rd November 2026
Interview date: Week commencing 9th November 2026.

THIS POST REQUIRES YOU TO BE REGISTERED WITH THE EWC
